Come in, take a look around, and feel free to contact me if you have a question or story idea. Be sure to read the comments or participate in the discussion. Warner Bros. must have thought that CES was a good week to bury bad news, but unfortunately most people pay attention when you pull a move like this. netflix streaming bluray has confirmed the rumor that if you wanna rent movies from the aforementioned studio, you When Netflix first started Bluray rentals, I was so excited to get the "Bluray experience" but these days all I get are rental discs.. So I pay for a premium experience and don't get any of the features.. Lame. The studios want you to buy the disc if you want the extra features. They make more money that way, so that's what they sell to rental outfits like Netflix, Redbox, Blockbuster, etc. The good news is that you have the choice to downgrade from the blu-ray option and not pay the premium. I wouldn't call it a scam if it was advertised as hd movies. It's advertised as bluray, as in the bluray experience.. Which is what they sell on the advertisements. I got a disc last week, I couldn't even watch the uncut version, only the theatrical version was available on the rental disc.. So I'll reiterate my above statement..Lame. Cowboys and aliens, clever how they show you everything you're missing. It looks like you can watch the extended version, and all the other features, but the only thing available on the disc is advertisements and the theatrical version. I can understand (but don't personally like) that the studios strip rental discs of Special Features like commentaries, making of doc's, etc. But the home viewing market is all about unrated and director's cuts. That's been an unwritten rule of the market for as long as I can remember. What bullshit..I wonder what way those MBA geniuses will come up with to stab themselves in the foot next?..Only 2 channel stereo audio? How about inserting commercials in rental discs during the film?. Or how about just making discs that can squirt foul smelling or staining liquids at random? Then they can sell us a cleaning agent to help us clean up the mess..SYNERGY!. Also, to help further DVD/blu-ray sales over rentals, Warner Bros is imposing a 56 day delay for new release rentals with Netflix. Up from 28 days. Expect other studios to fall in line. Redbox and Blockbuster have chosen to fight the embargo since their business models thrive on new releases. Redbox and BB will buy their discs at full retail cost, but will be interesting to see if they are able to keep up with demand since the big box retail stores have quantity purchase limitations. Plus, I would think buying at full retail cost would eat into their profit margins. Well, I will only be buying used DVD's that I like.  The studios who prevent my watching the special features from my rentals won't get my dollar for new disks. And I've written to tell them same. If enough people do this the greedy dicks will feel the pinch. honestly you don The discount stoppage went into effect at the beginning of 2012, but major news sources are just catching on now. The lack of discount will not financially affect Netflix in any significant way, except in what it signifies, a deeper rift between two companies that Hastings has perhaps rightly characterized as a potentially costly rivalry. HBO delivered a figurative slap this week to its growing competitor Netflix. The premium cable network has apparently cut Netflix off from discounted DVDs, forcing the company to look elsewhere for supply. According to the New York Times, HBO stopped providing DVDs to Netflix on January 1. HBO is, of course, the network behind hits such as Why is it that every single article written about Netflix (NFLX) – or movie streaming or home entertainment in general – always has to mention the obsolescense of the optical disk? Could it be that bias and personal belief systems are driving the decisions made by those who are betting the farm on streaming and not plain and simple business logic?. Let's think about this a bit more rationally. Consumers like choice. They like to browse and to own physical product versus a digital copy. Sure, if it's cheaper and more convenient, they will stream. That said, let's call a spade a spade and say that Blu Ray so far is a much better technology than streaming via broadband. Blu Ray is the force driving Coinstar to gain traction over Netflix, is the reason that the
